1. Name/Nick name:

Mark Dingmann

2. Age:

39

3. Occupation:

Vice President and General Manager at McDowall Company (HVAC and Roofing Commercial Construction Company).

4. Hometown:

St. Cloud, MN

5. How long have you been a member of GCC?

11 months (started June 2018)

6. What do you love about GCC?

I love the atmosphere, comradely, coaches are excellent, and the fact that everyone is there for slightly different reasons, but in the end we’re all there to better our health and fitness.

7. What keeps you motivated?

Staying healthy for my kids, family, and myself are my motivation. I am a Type 1 diabetic, and CrossFit has helped me manage my diabetes tremendously and keeps me motivated every day.

8. Tell us what your biggest CrossFit moment and/or biggest PR is!

Even before starting CrossFit I’ve wanted to get into a CrossFit competition. I did my first competition in January of 2019 with John R. from GCC, and we took 2nd place in the RX Division (thanks to John and me just trying to keep up). I look forward to doing more of them in the future.

9. What's your biggest fitness fail!?

LOL!!! Pull ups every time I attempt them, and my first HSPU attempt (luckily no one was looking).

10. What is your favorite workout and movement?

Power cleans and rowing.

11. What is your least favorite workout and movement?

Anything with pull ups and it’s not even close.

12. What advice would you give a new/potential member?

Just get in the door and listen to your coaches, that’s all you have to do. The workouts take over from there and before you know it, you’re doing things you never thought you could. Everyone walked through that door for the first time at some point.

13. Tell us something we don't know about you!

I was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 27 years old, which changed my life forever. There is no cure for Type 1 diabetes, so I am reliant on wearing an insulin pump and CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitor). Food, exercise, stress, etc. all have an affect on my blood sugar being high or low, so I continuously monitor that at all times. CrossFit has tremendously helped me control my diabetes, which is a huge motivation for me.

14. What do you do when you don't CrossFit?

Spend time with 2 boys (Easton age 8, Mason age 6) and wife (Leslie), work a lot, and also am the President of the Sartell Baseball Association because of have a passion for helping kids in youth sports and baseball.

15. Favorite healthy meal and/or snack.

RX Bars

16. Favorite cheat meal and/or snack.

Chipotle

 1.     Name/Nick name: Cheryl, but my favorite nickname is Mom

2.     Age: 34

3.     Occupation: Paralegal and CFL1

4.     Hometown: I was raised mostly in Tennessee, but graduated from Isle High School

5.     How long have you been a member of GCC? 3 years

6.     What do you love about GCC? I love the community feel and being around others from so many different professions, backgrounds, and ages.

7.     What keeps you motivated? Two things--- #1- Someone out there is warming up with my max, so I’m constantly working to improve; and #2- I have two daughters watching me,  I have to show them that something worth having is worth fighting for, even if it means failing and trying over and over; achievements in CrossFit are the perfect way to demonstrate that.

8.     Tell us what your biggest CrossFit moment and/or biggest PR is! My biggest CrossFit moment was finally hitting double unders. It was the right balance of determination and getting mad about it that finally got me there.

9.     What's your biggest fitness fail!? LOL!!! My biggest CrossFit fail was eating it on a box jump and skinning my shin. I still have the dent in my shin two years later.

10.  What is your favorite workout and movement? My favorite movement is the back squat. Any bad day can be turned around by throwing a bunch of weight on a bar and grinding out some squats.

11.  What is your least favorite workout and movement? There really isn’t a least favorite movement. I'm a believer in that if you hate a movement, it’s more than likely because you suck at it. Usually if you give it the time and effort it deserves, you’ll get better and change your mind.

12.  What advice would you give a new/potential member? Be comfortable getting uncomfortable, that’s where you find growth.

13.  Tell us something we don't know about you! My first time ever in a plane was to sky dive.

14.  What do you do when you don't CrossFit? I work full-time and have two young kids, so that fills the bulk of the rest of my time, but I love going on adventures and competing.

15.  Favorite healthy meal and/or snack. My favorite healthy meal is a burger with an over medium egg and veggies

16.  Favorite cheat meal and/or snack. I can eat my body weight at any buffet with ZERO shame.

Jess Rausch at Mankato - Game Day Competition Spring 2018

1.     Name/Nick name: Jessica Rausch / Jess

2.     Age: 26

3.     Occupation: Production Scheduler

4.     Hometown: Cold Spring

5.     How long have you been a member of GCC? How long have you been CrossFitting? Member almost 2 years. CrossFitting 2.5 years.

6.     What do you love about GCC? Love the family atmosphere. When I left my first gym, I thought I'd never find another gym with so many people who actually care about you in and outside the gym. Struck out with another gym in the area but was lucky enough to find GCC shortly after.

7.     What keeps you motivated? The other members and coaches and wanting to hang around them, wanting to get better each and every day, and continuing to prove the doctors and therapists wrong.

8.     Tell us what your biggest CrossFit moment and/or biggest PR is! Biggest PR came fairly recently. Was able to finally reach the 200 pound club with my deadlift. Biggest moment was facing my fears and competing in my first gameday competition.

9.     What's your biggest fitness fail!? LOL!!! When I first started CrossFit down in Mankato, I didn't know how to properly unload a bar. Started unloading all of one side. Therefore, the bar fell off the rack. 🤦 Not my brightest moment.

10.  What is your favorite workout and movement? My favorite movement is db snatch. Favorite workout, don't really have one. They all suck haha.

11.  What is your least favorite workout and movement? Burpees and least favorite workout: anything will both wall balls and burpees in them.

12.  What advice would you give a new/potential member? CROSSFIT IS FOR EVERYONE!!!! This is something I truly believe. If I can do it, anyone can. You're only limited by what you think you can't do. There are adapting/scaling options for everything.

13.  Tell us something we don't know about you! Because of my CP (Cerebral Palsy), I drive with my left foot. I have a left foot accelerator.

14.  What do you do when you don't CrossFit? I watch sports, particularly football. If the Vikings are on, don't call me, don't message me, don't text me. I'm busy. 😁

15.  Favorite healthy meal and/or snack. My favorite healthy snack: green grapes, meal: anything with chicken.

16.  Favorite cheat meal and/or snack. My mom's calzones
